Search Engine Optimization Basics

Yesterday you learned all about the basics of building your brand from our amazing marketing guru, Frannie Coggeshall!

Today, we're diving in to another aspect of brand recognition, Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

What is SEO?

SEO is a blanket term that applies to anything you do to improve how high your website appears in organic search results on search engines.

In organic search results, Google, for example, ranks links by sites it considers most relevant and authoritative to least. Gauging relevance is Google's job; authority is mainly measured by analyzing the number and quality of links from other web pages.

So what? How does it apply to me?

As a dietitian, having a higher SEO will make your site easier to find, and can bring more traffic to your website to help you gain customers... that's always a good thing!

How can I improve my site's SEO?

The best way to help your SEO is by having great content on your site! This will flag your site for keywords others may be searching, and encourage others to link to your content as well.

As you keep adding more content and making it easy to access and link to, your SEO will keep growing. It's a slow process, but don't give up!

Having updated and optimized business information will also help.

And remember, don't confuse quantity with quality! You want content worth reading and linking to.
