This week, we're interviewing Healthy Bytes' very own Nicole Flynn! Nicole joined our team as an account manager; she’s here to help you navigate the world of insurance, enabling you to counsel more clients!
I joined the Healthy Bytes team in New York as a Junior Account Manager because I wanted to be a part of a company that provides a real service to people. I recently graduated from Tulane University with a double major in Public Health and French. Throughout my time in New Orleans, I was able to see the major health effects of poverty and food deserts. Public Health has always been my passion and I volunteered my time in the community as much as I could, whether that be tutoring at a local charter school, working at a safe house for women or acting as a wellness coach for high school students.
Sports were a huge part of my childhood; my parents have always been active and I was never interested in fast food, so living a relatively healthy lifestyle is natural to me. I think running is fun - and I love that others at Healthy Bytes feel the same way! It wasn’t until I moved to New Orleans that I realized how many people in the city eat high-fat foods for almost every meal; sometimes fresh produce was hard to come by. The lack of healthy options can lead to obesity, hypertension, diabetes and so many other health problems that make dietitians’ work so important.
I love when I am able to help providers navigate insurance, because this enables them to help more people. It feels good to know that what I am doing is increasing access to preventive care and necessary treatment of chronic diseases. I have learned so much since joining Healthy Bytes, and I hope to learn even more about the healthcare system and work hard to help Healthy Bytes grow as a company.
Healthy Bytes has combined everything I love from making a positive impact on health to working closely with awesome people every day!
